Synopsis

Upon learning of his mother's (Mary Steenburgen) sudden heart condition, Carlton Garrett (Justin Timberlake) is faced with the challenge of fulfilling her dire wish to bring his estranged father (Jeff Bridges) to the hospital before the operation. Carlton and his friend, Lucy (Kate Mara), set off to Ohio where they find his legendary professional athlete father, Kyle Garrett. After much convincing, chasing and missed flights due to Kyle's mischievous behavior, the awkward threesome head for Houston in a rented car. As they drive down south, both father and son are obliged to reexamine their pasts and shed the protective layers of their individual personalities.
